Your driveway takes more daily punishment than almost any other surface on your property. Every vehicle that pulls in and out, every oil drip, every scorching summer day adds up over time. A properly installed concrete driveway handles all of it and keeps looking good for decades.
Homeowners who are dealing with cracked, sunken, or crumbling asphalt or concrete driveways, or who are building a new home and need a driveway installed from scratch, are the people we work with most. The right time to act is before the damage gets bad enough to affect the subbase, because once that happens the cost of the job increases significantly.
A deteriorating driveway is more than a cosmetic problem. Homeowners who ignore cracking and surface failure end up with a subbase that has been softened by water infiltration, which means a more extensive and expensive repair when they finally address it.
Beyond the structural issues, a damaged driveway affects curb appeal and property value in a way that is hard to overlook.
If your driveway has large cracks, sunken sections, crumbling edges, or a surface that is pitting and flaking, it has reached the point where patching is no longer a practical solution. A full replacement with properly compacted base material and a correctly mixed concrete pour will outperform any patch job and give you a surface that is genuinely built to last in the Red Bluff climate.
The process starts with a site assessment to evaluate the existing conditions, measure the area, and identify any drainage or grading considerations.
If there is an existing driveway, we break it out and haul away all the debris. We then grade and compact the subbase to create a stable, level foundation for the new concrete. Wood or steel forms are set to define the shape and edges of the driveway.
We pour a properly proportioned concrete mix, spread and screed it to a consistent depth, and finish the surface with a broom texture for traction. Control joints are cut at appropriate intervals to manage cracking as the concrete cures.
Once the pour is complete, we apply a curing compound to slow moisture evaporation and protect the surface during the curing process. Forms are removed after the concrete has set, edges are cleaned up, and the site is cleared of all debris before we consider the job done.

Driveway pricing is influenced by several factors that vary from one property to the next. The total square footage is the primary cost driver, but site preparation requirements play a significant role as well. A driveway that requires extensive demolition, grading, or subbase work will cost more than one being poured on a well-prepared surface.
The thickness of the slab matters too. A driveway that needs to support heavy vehicles requires a thicker pour than a standard passenger vehicle driveway. Decorative options such as exposed aggregate, stamped patterns, or colored concrete add to the cost but can significantly improve the appearance of the finished product.
Access to the job site and local material costs also factor into the final number. The only way to give you an accurate price is to see the project in person, which is why we offer free on-site estimates.
For standard passenger vehicles, a thickness of four inches is the minimum recommended. If the driveway will regularly support heavier vehicles such as trucks, RVs, or trailers, we recommend going to five or six inches. We assess your specific situation during the estimate and recommend the appropriate thickness based on how the driveway will be used.
We recommend waiting at least seven days before driving on a new concrete driveway, and longer is better. While concrete reaches a usable strength within the first few days, driving on it too soon can leave marks and cause surface damage. Full curing takes approximately 28 days, after which the concrete reaches its design strength.
We can get close in most cases, but it is worth noting that new concrete will always look slightly different from aged concrete simply due to color and weathering differences. Over time the new section will naturally blend in. If appearance consistency is a priority, we can discuss finishing options during the estimate.
In most cases a straightforward driveway replacement does not require a permit, but requirements can vary depending on the scope of work and your property's location. We are familiar with local requirements and will let you know during the estimate process if a permit is needed for your specific project.
